Hello everybody, I'm Roger Bartakovits.
I hope you take the time to read this...
I am a 50 year old incredibly lucky, creative, hopeful and purposeful techno-hobbyist workaholic who just can't find enough hours in the day to do all things he's supposed to do, or worse yet all the things he wants to do. I am an adventurous spirit who genuinely likes people and still believes in the innate goodness of mankind.
I am the founder and majority owner of Just Ask Locals, and hope to someday reside semi-full time in Playa Grande, Costa Rica where I own a wonderful little enclave of vacation rentals named Playa Grande Casitas. Just Ask Locals evolved as I explored ways that technology might help our little community of Playa Grande to overcome the challenges that so many boutique vacation communities with tourism based economies and absentee owners face: communication, organization and self-promotion.
Let me break it down a bit...
- Techno-hobbyist - I love technology. I'm just fascinated by it. But I am more intrigued by what it can do rather than how it's done! Which is a good thing since I'm basically just a creative idea guy. So it is no surprise that I rely heavily on my technology partner to make good ideas come to life on the internet. These guys are the true brainiacs behind Just Ask Locals!
- Purposeful - At this point in my life, I really just want to spend the rest of my years doing something with purpose. I believe that if we want to make the world a better place, then we need to educate our children. My hope is that Just Ask Locals will become a self-sustainable business that is able to support projects that provide computers and internet access at schools. I want to provide a technological window to the world's knowledge for kids who otherwise would have no access.
- Hopeful - I tend to be an overly optimistic guy. I still believe that folks will do the right things for the right reasons. I am hopeful that folks will get what Just Ask Locals is all about and support it. It really doesn't take much... just use the website to it's fullest, link to it, share it with a few friends, talk it up on Facebook and contribute a bit of local content and photos here and there that visitors would find interesting and helpful.
- Lucky - I'm a lucky guy. I recently rekindled a childhood romance after more than 30 years apart. She is one of the most altruistic girls I've ever met. We share similar values, purpose, hopes and dreams. I really don't have much to complain about, but I still do. And she puts up with me. I'm a lucky guy!
I am hoping that Just Ask Locals evolves into a fun and purposeful second career that provides the opportunity to travel with my girl, meet the world's peoples and make a difference in the lives a few children along the way. One can hope and dream!
