It's easy to find a good wave in Playa Grande, because we have the most consistent surf in Costa Rica.! If you don't know how to surf you can arrange to rent a surfboard and take lessons. At the northern end of Playa Grande you can try your hand at fishing, using hand lines and casting nets just like the locals.
Or perhaps you would prefer taking a jungle boat tour along the estuary to see crocodiles peeking out from the greenery, monkeys frolicking in the trees (you have to get up pretty early to see these guys), or observe an abundant species of flora and other fauna.
Life is kind of quiet in pleasant Playa Grande. There is no shopping other than a few surf shops or at the little grocery store in the southern end of Playa Grande, in the Palm Beach Estates area. There are spa services, estuary tours and sunset sailing cruises to explore. Meandering along the beach and watching the waves and surfers or strolling the monkey trail trying to catch a glimpse of the local wildlife is also very relaxing.
There are several restaurants that serve delicious local and international cuisine for lunch or for dinner.
Either walking, bicycles or motor scooter rental is the best way to see this great little community and the beautiful homes of the expats who have come down to live the "Pura Vida" life!
